The Extra Mile Update // Taking Action to Build His Kingdom

I have so many prayers for our Lake Mary campus. Some prayers are so big that they feel like dreams still, while others can seem minuscule at times. It has been such a blessing to watch how God has answered even what seems like the smallest of prayers. Just this week, God answered a prayer for the building process. One major part of construction is getting the power turned on. Thanks to everyone’s prayers, the power company came out and installed the meter, which is a huge step toward getting the power completely turned on in the building. This helps us stay on schedule for the important inspections and instillations that are to come in the next two weeks! This is just one of the many examples of the answered prayers. God is clearly already working in this place and, while He could make a big impact all by himself, He is charging us to take some action and participate in building this place well.

Acts 28:2 says, “The natives showed us extraordinary kindness; for because of the rain that had set in and because of the cold, they kindled a fire and received us all.”

This verse speaks to the action I hope we, the natives, will take. We have the unique opportunity of receiving those that are far from God and are kindling the fire by creating a permanent building where we will receive them all. But we have to go “the extra mile” (yes, the obvious pun was intended) and invite others in. Let’s step out and notice those people in the community around us—the ones in our connect groups who are curious about serving but don’t know how to connect or the neighbor down the street who wonders about your niceSERVE shirt. I challenge you to think of one person who you have wanted to connect with more fully—maybe it’s the person whose name you wrote on the floor during our prayer night! Invite them in!

Some of you already know the person you will ask. Others may have to sit and pray about it for a while. My prayer is that we will not only take action in building this physical building, but we will go the extra mile and take action to build His kingdom.

Thanks for joining with us to go The Extra Mile!

How can you be praying for the Lake Mary Campus?

  • There are several small inspections that are coming up which could impact our timeline.
  • That we would be able to receive our certificate of occupancy by the end of the month.
  • For every person who is invited further in with the opening of our new doors.

Also, remember that our first round of volunteer workdays at the new building is this week! You can sign up here if you are interested in moving furniture tomorrow or helping set up some of the Base Camp space on Sunday. Sunday's workday will be a family friendly project!
