Community Food & Outreach Center Service Opportunities

At Summit, service is a way of life. We don’t shy away from getting our hands dirty—we’re embracing the needs of our surrounding communities and consistently using the time and talents God’s given us to help everyone connect with Christ. Because of this, we have pledged 3,000 service hours with Community Food and Outreach Center. We are half-way to meeting our goal and we need your help! CFOC is a local nonprofit organization that supports families struggling to make ends meet by offering a hand. CFOC's services include a cost-share grocery store, case-management services, guidance in navigating government services, job skills training, and so much more—all in one place.

We invite you to serve and help us reach our goal of 3,000 hours! Here are a few ways that you can do so:

  1. Volunteer as in individual. You can help in the cost-share grocery store or thrift store by stocking shelves, greeting people at the front desk, or organizing donated goods. If you’re looking for more of a long-term commitment, or have a specific skill (e.g., social work, data entry, counseling, technical skills, medical, etc.), you can also volunteer in the Life Enrichment center by working as a classroom assistant, computer lab monitor, or assessment technician.
  2. Volunteer as a group. We would love for you to volunteer with a group—maybe your Connect Group, a group of friends, or people you volunteer with at Summit! You can volunteer in the same capacities listed above, but do so with your friends!
  3. CFOC Family Night. This happens on the second Friday of every month. If you have children under the age of 10, this is a great way to serve with your entire family! Spots fill up quickly, so sign up early!
  4. Donate toys for Base Camp’s kidSERVE. This is a great way for children to get involved. Each winter, Base Camp encourages kids to bring in new, unwrapped toys to donate to CFOC’s Christmas Mall. Look out for more information as we head into the Christmas season.

There are many ways that you can serve with Community Food and Outreach Center and we need you to help us meet our pledge of 3,000 hours. Click here to pledge your hours. After pledging, you will receive an email detailing more about the various service opportunities and how to connect with CFOC.
