One Church: Multiple Locations // Next Right Steps

One of things I love about my job is that I get a front row seat to see God at work in the lives of people at Summit Waterford—stories of how God is using Summit to bring about transformation in East Orlando. The stories I love the most are stories of people who, as a result of seeking to apply God’s word, are catalyzed to take next steps. I love these stories because taking a next step requires a level of trust in God and that trust leads to seeing Him work in and through us. I recently witnessed this happen in the life of Jason. Jason came to the Waterford campus desiring to connect with God and others. He decided to find me after a service and introduce himself (I love when that happens!). A week or so later we grabbed lunch and talked about how he could take steps to get connected. Getting connected for Jason meant joining a Summit Connect group where he could begin to know others and be known. He joined a Connect group not long after and is experiencing learning, serving, and worshiping in Christ-centered community.

After learning that Jason played the bass I connected him with Dave, our Worship Minister. Jason walked through the necessary audition process and if you were in service on July 19th you got to hear and see Jason as a part of one of the Waterford bands! Jason is now leveraging his talents to communicate God’s love to all who come on Sunday.

One lesson the Lord continually reminds me of is that following Him is seldom easy or comfortable and always requires courage and trust. We see it in scripture with Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David, the disciples, and many more. Whether your next right step is talking to your Campus Pastor or Minister after a service or signing up to serve in some capacity around Summit, whether it’s showing up at reGroup or joining a Connect group, or whether it’s forgiving the person who hurt you or making that phone call—all will require courage and trust. My hope and prayer is that you will pray Joshua 1:9, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go," and take your next right step trusting that God is with you.
