Confirmation

“We’ve been praying for you for a long time— so glad to finally know who you are!”

I had the privilege of speaking those words to a beautiful young lady as I met her this morning. And it was true— we’ve been praying for her for a long time without knowing who she would be. This precious young woman joined our Samaritan Village family recently as the newest resident of our safe home for survivors of human sex trafficking. She is the answer to many prayers— prayers that the Lord would rescue these women from the numerous chains that hold them… prayers that He would deliver these women into the arms of those who would love and not abuse… and prayers that we would be those arms for a few women in need.

The two new residents whom we’ve had the privilege of welcoming this past week are a symbol of the season we’re now in— a season of joy, growth, and sweet confirmation from the Lord.

Every ministry goes through seasons— seasons of uncertainty, seasons of change, seasons of hope. Samaritan Village is no exception. In the six years that we’ve been open we have seen it all. And as we’ve taken baby steps toward the vision God gave us, we have seen His blessing time and time again. The two new residents whom we’ve had the privilege of welcoming this past week are a symbol of the season we’re now in— a season of joy, growth, and sweet confirmation from the Lord.

In the past several weeks, we’ve been able to take confident steps into this new season, largely thanks to the incredibly generous support we have received from Summit Church. Our capacity has grown from four to six women, which has required the reorganization of our entire home to accommodate extra beds, the purchase of a seven-passenger vehicle to allow group transportation, the onboarding of new volunteers, and the diligent work of our staff and current residents to ensure our new women are welcomed into the best environment we can provide. Every step has been taken with care and attention. Our desire is to provide more than a bed and a “program”— we want to offer a home and a family.

We ask that you continue to be part of that family. We need your prayers, your engagement of our women in community, and your help. We know that God will send the people who are meant to be in our women’s lives. We know this because He has always heard our prayers, and He continues to confirm the vision He gave us. He confirmed it this past December with Summit’s offering – and He will continue to confirm it as He begins to heal the hearts of our new residents.

If you are interested in partnering with Samaritan Village, they are currently in need of help in two unique areas— overnight volunteers that provide emotional support and guidance to the women (don’t worry – you can still sleep!), and assistance in the resale store on Sundays. Both positions are incredibly important and rewarding as they offer relief to the Samaritan Village staff, and provide the opportunity to engage directly with their residents.
