Children’s Ministry FAQ

+What if my child refuses to wear a mask?

It’s challenging to keep masks on kids! We ask that you do your best to have children ages 2 and up wear masks in common spaces; preschoolers can remove masks once in classrooms. These guidelines were set up in line with Central Florida area preschools and Orange and Seminole Counties’ public school guidelines. Our hope is that staying consistent with other environments your child is likely accustomed to will allow for easier implementation.

+What additional health and safety measures are being taken?

All children and volunteers will have their temperature checked before entering the Base Camp area. Volunteers will be wearing masks and will encourage elbow bumps or foot taps instead of high fives. Hand sanitizer will be available in all classrooms and there will be multiple hand-washing times for children. Snacks will be distributed while wearing gloves.

+What are the cleaning procedures?

All soft toys or items that cannot be easily sanitized will be removed from classrooms. Classroom supplies (pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, etc.) will be swapped out in between services. All surfaces and toys will be wiped down in between services by volunteers and Base Camp staff.

+How many kids will be in each classroom?

Each classroom's maximum capacity has been set based on the space available to accommodate physical distancing in the individual rooms, including volunteers per room. RSVPs will allow for Base Camp staff to keep our classrooms under the set capacities. Classrooms will not mix during service.

+What if I don’t pass the temperature check?

If your child has a temperature over 99.8°F, we will ask that you join us in worship from home that day. All of our Base Camp videos and resources will continue to be available on-demand here every Sunday beginning at 7 a.m.

+Does my elementary schooler go to Large Group during service?

No, children will not participate in Large Group at this time. We will be teaching the day’s lesson in the classrooms.

+What about Base Camp Live?

We will not be offering BCL at this time. Check out what the Base Camp characters and friends are up to online.

+What happens if RSVPs for my child's age group fill up?

Since we are providing strict capacities for classrooms, when we reach the limit for each service, we unfortunately will not be able to make additional accommodations. If space and RSVPs are available, your child is more than welcome to join you in the Sanctuary for main service.

+What if I have more questions?

We would love to make sure they are answered. Feel free to reach out to your campus’s Children’s Ministry staff, or if you don’t have a campus affiliation, email summit@summitconect.org
