Children’s Ministry
Families, we are excited to be worshiping with your kids!
Base Camp is available for children ages 3 months to 5th grade. In alignment with Orange and Seminole County Public Schools, we will continue to observe some additional measures to provide an environment in which we hope everyone can feel comfortable. Masks will continue to be worn by children and volunteers while in Base Camp at the Herndon and Waterford Campuses until Sunday, August 1st. Beginning Sunday, August 1st, masks will be recommended but not required in all Base Camp classrooms and environments.
Preschoolers will still be permitted to remove their masks once in their classrooms with the permission of their parent or guardian at all campuses. At the Lake Mary Campus, masks are recommended but not required in all Base Camp classrooms and environments effective immediately.
+What if my child refuses to wear a mask?
It’s challenging to keep masks on kids! We ask that you do your best to have children ages 2 and up wear masks while in Base Camp areas; preschoolers can remove masks once in classrooms. These guidelines continue to align with Central Florida area preschools and Orange and Seminole Counties’ public school guidelines. Our hope is that staying consistent with other environments your child is likely accustomed to will allow for easier implementation. However, mask exceptions are permitted with a doctor's note.
+What additional health and safety measures are being taken?
All children and volunteers will have their temperature checked before entering the Base Camp area. Volunteers will be wearing masks and will encourage elbow bumps or foot taps instead of high fives. Hand sanitizer will be available in all classrooms and there will be multiple hand-washing times for children. Snacks will be distributed while wearing gloves.
+What are the cleaning procedures?
All soft toys or items that cannot be easily sanitized will be removed from classrooms. Classroom supplies (pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, etc.) will be swapped out in between services. All surfaces and toys will be wiped down in between services by volunteers and Base Camp staff.
+How many kids will be in each classroom?
Each classroom's maximum capacity has been set based on the space available to accommodate the Public Schools System's reccomendations on physical distancing in the individual rooms, including volunteers per room. Classrooms will not mix during service.
+What if I don’t pass the temperature check?
If your child has a temperature over 99.8°F, we will ask that you join us in worship from home that day. All of our Base Camp videos and resources will continue to be available on-demand here every Sunday beginning at 7 a.m.
+Does my elementary schooler go to Large Group during service?
Only select campuses will participate in Large Group at this time. Large group will only take place if an adequate amount of large group space exists for the children attending to social distance. Campuses that are not providing large group will be teaching the day’s lesson in the classrooms.
+What about Base Camp Live?
We will not be offering BCL at this time. Check out what the Base Camp characters and friends are up to online.
+What if I have more questions?
We would love to make sure they are answered. Feel free to reach out to your campus’s Children’s Ministry staff, or if you don’t have a campus affiliation, email summit@summitconect.org
