We can work to be proactive in creating the best environments for those around us by maintaining health the best we can. If you are not at risk of spreading the virus to those more susceptible, you may be able to step up and come alongside organizations helping out in the local community.

Be a good neighbor! Connect with neighbors who may be especially at risk due to underlying health conditions, those who may be elderly, and those who live alone.

  • Help them prepare as you are able to lighten their burden.

  • Keep in communication with them regularly to make sure they are OK.

Connect with organizations that will be meeting community needs.

  • One Blood. While Central Florida is still classified as low-risk, the local blood banks will be trying to stock up in anticipation of having to cease operations. Those suffering from the most severe symptoms of COVID-19, especially those with underlying health issues, may need blood transfusions. Learn more here.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank is preparing to assist across Central Florida to equip and supply many of the nonprofits that will be the social safety net for our area. Start a virtual food drive.
    Donate funds to them directly.

  • UP Orlando is collecting donations for emergency shelters.

  • Items being collected: cleaning and hygiene supplies (paper towels, soap, hand sanitizer, bleach, etc.), acetaminophen, ibuprofen, thermometers, garbage bags, Zip-loc bags, gloves, linens, towels, plastic shower curtains (to create isolation barriers), and foods (canned fruits, soups, pastas, peanut butter, jell, etc.; tab tops preferred for canned goods).

  • Drop off donations at the United Against Poverty warehouse.
