They Will Know God Loves Them
Last summer, I was part of a Missions Team that went to Malawi, Africa. We worked alongside COTN to put on a VBS for children who have special needs. The trip was amazing but (little did I know at the time) it was only the beginning. When we returned, several incredible women decided to take further action. These women wrote a children’s book called The Tree Keeper. The book centers around a group of kids who go on an adventure. The kids all have different challenges, but they also have different gifts and abilities. As they continue their journey, they discover that God has given them all a unique purpose. As someone who has cerebral palsy, I was deeply touched by the message of the book.
A couple weeks ago, we sold The Tree Keeper in the Resource Center. People had the opportunity to buy a copy for themselves, and also donate a copy to send to Malawi. You were very generous! Here’s an update…
Thanks to you, the teams going to Malawi this summer will be able to take 122 copies of book. The Teach Team will be able to give a copy to each of the teachers they will be working with, and the Special Needs Team will be able to give a copy to each child at VBS.
God has truly provided over and above what we expected to be able to take to Malawi. Because of you, kids who may look and feel different will know they have value. They can read a fun book that celebrates their differences. They will know that God loves them and has a purpose for their lives. On behalf of our teams going to Malawi this summer, thank you. It really matters.
You can buy a copy of The Tree Keeper here through Lulu or here from Amazon.
