Volunteer Highlight: Lyndsay Maby

We love our volunteers. They are the hands and feet of our church, living out the vision of Summit on a weekly, even daily basis. They care about creating a space where people feel welcome to learn, serve, and worship. Our Base Camp volunteers are particularly passionate about fostering an environment where children at Summit feel safe to learn and grow. Lyndsay Maby is one of our amazing volunteers who serves in Base Camp at the Waterford campus. Lyndsay was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and moved to Miami when she was four. She grew up playing outside with her sister constantly and they traveled often to visit their dad who was in the military at the time. Lyndsay earned both her bachelor’s and her master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida. She is a huge Knights fan and made lifelong friends during her time at UCF, including her husband Nick! They had only been attending Summit for about six months when Lyndsay realized that a natural way to get plugged in was to start volunteering.

Lyndsay has always had a heart for kids and feels that volunteering with Base Camp is one of the best decisions she has ever made. Within minutes of talking to Lyndsay, it’s clear to see her passion for each and every child she interacts with at Base Camp. She not only knows the name of every child in her class, but also the small details of their personality that make them unique and special. One of her favorite parts about being a Base Camp volunteer is the opportunity she has to show every child they are loved by the volunteers and by God. It brings her joy to watch them take their next right steps as they grow in their faith.

When she isn’t volunteering at Base Camp, Lyndsay loves to read, play board games, and spend time with friends and family. She and Nick enjoying going to sporting events, plays, and musicals at the high school where he works. She says, “Basically, aside from reading, if it involves interacting with other people, I’m in.”
