Summit Student Ministries Is Back Next Week!

After an awesome summer filled with service projects, studying Ephesians, and silliness, Summit Student Ministries are back into the swing of things for fall! To start things out, we will be hosting Parent Meetings for anyone who has a middle or high school student who is currently involved in Student Ministries or is interested in becoming involved. During this meeting, we will be discussing our vision, upcoming series, the calendar of events for fall, and a few practical thoughts for parents of teenagers. We would love to see every student represented at these meetings so that we can further love and serve them by forming partnerships with parents! At Herndon, there will be a meeting after the Thursday evening service tonight, August 14th, as well as after every service this Sunday, August 17th. At Waterford and Lake Mary, there will be meetings after both of the morning services this Sunday, August 17th.

In Summit Student Ministries, our vision is to form biblically functioning communities of middle and high school students with adult leaders that reach lost students, connect in Christ-centered relationships, teach truth, serve others, and worship God. Yes, this is intentionally almost identical to Summit’s vision as a whole, with the exception of us sticking in the phrase “middle and high school students.” The primary way we live out our vision is to train volunteer leaders to build relationships with students and lead student Connect groups. Throughout the year, we intentionally choose curriculum and plan events that lead us to fulfill that vision.

To kick off fall, our first series will be called Build as we look into the story of Nehemiah. We are very excited to begin the fall by encouraging students to embrace the challenges they’ll face during this school year and use those challenges as tools to build up their schools, towns, and communities.
