A Weekend Devoted to Family
It’s that time of year again—time to pack up the family and head to camp! That’s right, Family Camp is quickly approaching! If you’re still on the fence about joining us for this year’s weekend away at Southwind Camp, keep on reading. Grant and Jennifer Salisbury are parents of Sebastian (7), Kai (4), and Maverick (1). Here’s what Jennifer had to share about their Family Camp experience:
What was the biggest impact of this weekend on your family?
As parents, we learned about filling ourselves up with Scripture and being more intentional with our actions, so we are able to build up and pour out into the lives of our children.
What was your favorite part of camp as parents?
It’s hard to pick just one favorite part. I loved seeing the gumballs [illustration about how many weeks parents have with their kids before it’s time for them to “leave the nest”] and visually connecting how little time we actually have with our children. I also really enjoyed seeing how daring my boys were to try new things.
What were your kids’ favorite parts of camp?
Octaball, I think it’s called, and they both loved the Base Camp Live! performances.
How did Family Camp impact your family’s walk with Christ?
By teaching us to make it a priority to set aside time with God daily, so we don’t rely on ourselves to raise our children.
We absolutely LOVED Family Camp! Not only was it great to meet and get to know families from all of our campuses, but it was also a time for us to bond together as a family. We usually vacation by spending time with our extended family, so spending a whole weekend devoted to our family growing spiritually and with our church family was incredible. We are so thankful to be a part of Summit and look forward to our children growing up in this community.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to join us for Family Camp 2015, Friday, March 20th through Sunday, March 22nd. It’s geared toward parents and their elementary through high school age kids, but all ages are welcome! Click here for details and registration.
